Were you looking for his appearance in FNaF 3?

I always come back.

— Springtrap, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator

Springtrap (also known as Spring Bonnie, Dark Springtrap, and William Afton) is the main antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's 3, and returns in Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location's Custom Night. He is only seen in the 10/20 mode Cutscene and in the Circus Baby's second teaser. He is a heavily tattered version of the Spring Bonnie suit in which William Afton resides.

Appearance

Springtrap's appearance is seemingly almost completely identical to his FNaF 3 counterpart. In the cutscene, he appears to be more withered, and his organs can not be seen. He seems to be missing his pelvis. In Circus Baby's second teaser, his right ear is not severed.

History

Past

Spring Bonnie was an animatronic functioning with "springlocks", created alongside Fredbear, and one of the first animatronics created in the Fazbear and Fredbear collective franchise. Spring Bonnie made his first debut in "Fredbear's Family Diner", the original location which lead to the creation of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. In 1983, Spring Bonnie and Fredbear were decommissioned from an incident called "The Bite of '83", shown in the FNaF 4 minigames.

During an attempt to hide inside Spring Bonnie's suit to escape the dead souls of children he had murdered, William Afton was crushed via the springlocks, and because Cassidy had attached herself to William's soul to ensure that he couldn't die, his body rotted inside the suit for many years, up to his appearance in Five Nights at Freddy's 3 as "Springtrap".

Role in Sister Location

Springtrap appears at the end of the Golden Freddy Mode cutscene. The cutscene begins by panning through a burned down Fazbear's Frights, while Michael Afton gives a monologue. At the end of the cutscene, Springtrap walks into the frame for a second before the screen goes black, foreshadowing his appearance in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator.

Ultimate Custom Night

Springtrap climbs around in the vent system, making his way toward the vent opening embedded in the wall in front of the player. They must track him by watching the vent monitor. He moves silently, so listening for him is not necessary. When he is poised to attack, his face will be visible from the vent. The player should then shut the vent door on him to send him away. If successful, he will return to the start of the air vent, and his behavior repeats.

Scraptrap will only attack once per night, and there will be no way of knowing in advance when this attack will happen, or if it will happen at all. He will always attack from the vent on the right wall, and when he does, there will be a violent clamoring sound in the vent and the lights will flicker. When this happens, the player will have only a fraction of a second to close the vent door or the run will end with Scraptrap screaming in their face.

Trivia

  • When Springtrap moves forward his right ear appears to be erratic.
  • Oddly enough Springtrap only appears in the cutscene after beating Golden Freddy Mode, but is still considered a main character.
  • The nickname Dark Springtrap originated when Funko suggested that it was a different version of Springtrap at the the end of FNaF: SL after they made a POP! for him named Dark Springtrap.
